posted a message on Clarification of bumping rules in the Servers section

    Greeting server owners and players!

Bumping has always been against the rules in the PC Servers forum however we have received feedback that it is not clear what is and what isn't bumping. Please review the following clarification of the rules, which will come into action on February 11th.

No bumping is permitted in the Servers forum.

Server administrators are only permitted to reply to their thread when they are sharing major news, responding to an application, or engaging in conversation about the server with a player.

Major news is defined as an infrequent change that affects all players and gameplay, for example the server is coming online after 24+ hours offline, or the server type is changing (e.g: from survival to creative). Frequent changes like events, plugins and milestones do not qualify as major news and must be edited into the opening post of the thread instead.

Players may share their thoughts on why they like a server in the form of a review, and server administrators may encourage their players to post a review in the server's thread, however players must not be rewarded for these reviews -- a reward includes but is not limited to in-game currency, ranks and items. Players must not leave multiple reviews unless significant changes has occurred on the server which make the original review no longer applicable.

posted a message on I accidentally made a second minecraft forum account.

We don't mind having multiple accounts, however we do not permit them when it's used maliciously.

Examples including evading bans on one account and falsely misrepresenting your content with another account (i.e posting on the threads made by one account with the other to make it seem like others agree)

posted a message on The Distribution of Classic Jars

Mojang itself has to approve of it. They've done some in the past for some of the April Fools where they'd "approve" of someone doing it. If they are okay with it and it's something that can be publicly shown the consent was given then we will generally permit it.

posted a message on The Distribution of Classic Jars

The biggest reason is that Mojang explicitly states they are to be the source of their content. As such, re-distribution of their content outside of their own servers violates their terms, and so isn't allowed.

We allow linking to their servers for content, so if Mojang has the content publicly available, then we permit those links. Redistribution violates their terms and copyrights, and as such, we do not permit it.

It is not because they are old, it is because Mojang does not permit this behavior, and as a forum for their content, we abide by their wishes if we believe it to be reasonable and something we can enforce.

posted a message on Rules Suggestion

There is a difference between knowing and not caring. A lot of the time, it's because they don't care it's a rule.

We had tried using more visible prompts when you first registered that said to read the rules, however it did not do much. In the PC Server section, bumping has always occurred, no matter the visibility of the rules. It is generally a *lack* of wanting to read them unless you are made to because you were told you broke them, such as your case. Moving buttons around isn't going to help in this case. Especially considering it's already in one of the top areas, having "categories" for it (which quite frankly, doesn't mean much to me in what you mean) won't solve it.

We are not able to do UI changes. So, if you have better ideas which don't require changing the UI to achieve, then we can consider those.

    EDIT:

This could save all Admins/Moderators a lot of reports. Meaning.. less reports to go through when this suggestion does take affect.

Quite frankly, this doesn't provide any value. Our report counts are already low enough that it's not a big deal. And I'd prefer having more reports than none, because then I can easily clean up stuff, instead of having to manually go into every thread looking for anything. I'd prefer more reports, so this isn't a downside to me.

If you do not agree with a warning you were issued, you are allowed to appeal it. In the PM that you got when you were warned, there is a link in there that explains how to appeal it.

Our rules are located in the Nav Bar at the top of the page under "Rules", which then has links to each section's own specific rules. In each section as well, there is an announcement that's pinned which also directly links the section's rules.

posted a message on Question about reports.

Reports just are ways for members to flag content for review by moderators. Moderators can and do just occasionally read things and moderate if they find them. We are not solely driven by reports.

Some sections are not as frequently looked at compared to others, so it's certainly possible we miss stuff.

posted a message on Is there any actual official minecraft support here?

This is in fact a community-sourced support forum. There are no official support representatives of Mojang or Microsoft that actively use this forum to give support.

    No.

Only https://files.minecraftforge.net is genuine. Assume any other links are fake (and that site is known to steal content and intentionally do malicious things).
